Family Bonds Run as Deep as the Gorge

There’s something for each age range for your family mountain vacation at Adventures on the Gorge:

• For Children 4+: Bring the entire crew to Timbertrek for an aerial adventure above the trees like no other.
• For Children 6+: Take the whole family for an age-appropriate trip on the Upper New River.
• For Ages 8+: Clip into a harness for a guided rock climb with breathtaking views of the New River Gorge.
• For Ages 10+: Take the whole group on a zipline trip through the trees at either our Treetops adventure course (for Ages 10+) or our Gravity adventure course (for ages 12+).
• For Children 12+: Explore the many adventures that await on the Lower New River in the spring, summer, and fall months and the Lower Gauley in the fall.
• For Adventurous Teens 15+ with Rafting Experience: Hit the Upper Gauley River in the fall for big, challenging whitewater to satisfy your family’s thrill seekers.

You can hike, swim, kayak, mountain bike, stand-up paddleboard, play laser tag, tackle obstacle courses, learn to fly fish, and more! You name it, a family adventure vacation at our beautiful West Virginia destination has it!

Yes. Age minimums frequently change based on the specific trip. For example, four-year-olds can participate in TimberTrek Adventure Park. A trip on the Upper New River can be appropriate for ages six and up, but some rafting trips on the Gauley River require all participants to be at least 15.

Weight minimums and maximums apply for aerial and climbing adventures. You can find the age and weight requirements on each adventure page or contact an Adventure Specialist before you book. Adventurers under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign their waiver.

Yes. All our trips are guided trips, but that can look different based on the activity.

• For our whitewater rafting vacations on the Lower New or Gauley River, we have a guide in each boat.
• For an activity like paintball, your guide acts more as a referee and facilitator.
• For TimberTrek Adventure Park, there is a guide that will take you through Ground School, and multiple guides around the course are available to assist as needed.
