Day one: The Upper New River is the quintessential family-fun river section. Characterized by placid pools and long shoals rapids up to mild class III, you can run it in a one or two-person inflatable kayak (AKA a “ducky”) or if you’re a little more tentative hop into a full sized raft with your guide. We’ll stop for a gigantic riverside deli lunch, too, and if time permits, a waterfall hike!
On morning two, psyche yourself up for the challenge of TimberTrek Adventure Park. Garden and Gun Magazine once called TimberTrek part ropes course and part circus school, but there are a lot of ways to describe it. Orangutan habitat for people? Sure. Ninja Warrior course in the trees? That works, too, but harnesses and lanyards round out the safety gear, so you can be assured you won’t fall all the way off, even if you wanted to.
