Upper New River Rafting & Summersville Lake Adventure Package

Does your family pride itself on its unique vacations. Well, here’s one that is special among special trips.
xUpprNew-Small-3

Day one: The Upper New River is the quintessential family-fun river section. Characterized by placid pools and long shoals rapids up to mild class III, you can run it in a one or two-person inflatable kayak (AKA a “ducky”) or if you’re a little more tentative hop into a full sized raft with your guide. Either way, get ready to get wet and slightly wild. We’ll stop for a gigantic riverside deli lunch, too, and if time permits, a waterfall hike!

Summersville Lake is a truly incredible resource. Dammed in 1966 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the water level of the Gauley River rose and rose and rose until it met the cliffs at the rim of the gorge. The result is a massive, crystal-clear freshwater reservoir edged by towering sandstone cliffs, which we’ll explore on morning two by pontoon boat, stopping along the way to rock climb, swim, kayak and stand-up paddleboard.

This package includes:
  • Day 1: Upper New River Whitewater Rafting
  • Morning 2: 1/2-Day Summersville Lake Adventure
  • Lunch on the rafting day
  • (Optional) Buffet breakfast both days and prix fixe dinner on the rafting day

Do you need lodging, too? Give us a call and our adventure specialists will help you get it all together.
