Fishing in West Virginia, by raft or by wading the river, means fine scenery, fiery smallmouth bass and as much fun as you can possibly reel in.
Whether you've been fishing for years or it's your first time picking up a pole, our guides will put you where the fish are.
Our combination of excellent habitat, deep pools and swift currents are the ingredients that create one of the best fishing grounds in America. The boulder-rich waterways deep in the New and Gauley River Gorges offer plenty of shade, which is exactly what our scaly friends prefer. Consequently, it's not uncommon for our fishing guests to reel in 60 or more fish in a single day on the New River.
The half-day float trip goes out when smallmouth are often most actively feeding—early morning or late afternoon. This fishing trip will give you approximately four hours of quality smallmouth bass fishing.
Light tackle and fly fisherman of all skill levels can enjoy a relaxing and rewarding smallmouth bass fishing trip with us. Snacks, drinks, tackle and transportation to and from the river are provided.
If you're looking to spend more time on the water, try our longer fishing excursion, try our Float Fishing Full-Day Trip or Two-Day Trip. Custom outdoor sporting packages that include guided hunting segments are also available — we call it Cast & Blast.
Our fishing guides know this river better than anybody. They'll help you with bait or fly selection and where to cast, plus instruction, if necessary.
Our 16-foot oar-rigged boats hold 2 guests and a guide.
Time on Water
Four to five hours on the water plus a 45 bus ride in and out. If you want to pair it up with another activity, make sure you schedule the second activity after 2 pm.
We provide everything you need to have a great day of fishing, including tackle, rods, reels and plastic bait, plus flies and fly rods if specified. We also bring snacks and drinks.
What to Bring
Most importantly, you are responsible for obtaining and bringing your WV fishing license, and we ask that you please show that to your guide when you meet up. Bring sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing, including rain gear, warm layers, sunglasses and a hat. If your personal gear is preferred, bring your rod, hard bait, crank baits, plugs or minnows.
Requirements & Restrictions
All fishing trips are catch and release with artificial baits only.
No matter what time of year and what the water level is, we'll likely encounter rapids that we have to run. Our expert guides will help navigate through it.
